This is one of three "transitional paintings" Tone Aanderaa made. She started with this series when leaving America in 1989, coming back in Norway, and completed after her father dying in 1991:
• Bakom nynner maanen (Behind the Moon is Humming);
• Utspring (Wellspring) and
• Steinkaster (Stone Thrower)

"Utspring" expresses what Tone Aanderaa was feeling when her father died. It expresses a hope for a nice place to meet ... again? To rejuvenate?

This painting was used in the animation on the home-page of the Secret Garden music group. The hope becomes reality.
