After her father‘s sudden death Tone Aanderaa found an old photograph of him as a child, accompanied by his parents. This inspired the ‘Little Sailor Boy’ painting. It shows a boy who would grow up to a man traveling around the world, but always returning to the land of his ancestors. It is represented by the Hardfangerfjord landscape with the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall in Norheimsund
Magritte was Tone Aanderaa’s big teen age favourite, and this painting is surely influenced by him.
