Tone Aanderaa remembers the boat trips across the fjord – standing next to her father, – it was a good feeling, but she always felt that he was somehow not quite there, just out of reach. After he died she blamed him for that distance, for the statue-like figure he actually had been throughout her childhood, only really taking her hand and reaching for her the last year before he died. But this last year also caused the ‘statue’ to start cracking, and she loves him for that.
